Eli will be 7 weeks old tomorrow. Even though, in the scheme of things, he is still teeny tiny, it feels like he is practically a grown-up. He seems to be growing most noticeably in length. I recently noticed that he's close to outgrowing the bassinet part of his Pack 'n Play. That does NOT make Momma excited! I take comfort in the fact that he still fits in his newborn clothing. :) He's cooing and he's started to smile...not QUITE in response to us...but in response to whatever is going on in his little head. :)
We love it. It's fun learning the techniques that make our boy happy! I have the advantage of being with him all day every day, so I get a bit more practice, but Michael is a quick study and I don't have to boss him around that much. Eli was an astronaut for Halloween (for his dad) and he will be an astronaut in sleep for the next few months, or as long as those astronaut pjs fit him. :) This is a fun time of year to have a newborn because we don't actually have to exert much effort to make these holidays memorable yet. We are getting good ideas for future holidays...like, I've already ordered his costume for next year from disneystore.com. Very exciting to be able to control something in this uncontrollable time in our lives!! :)
Eli has met lots of family and friends, including Aunt Natalie who came from Florida!, and he is always charming, usually sleeping (except for when Aunt Natalie was here and his alter ego showed up in the evenings and fussed for awhile). We are looking forward to Thanksgiving break when we can be together as a family for longer than 2 days, as well as visit with more family.
In other news...um...well...he's pretty much our only news. ;) Happy Fall!!
